THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE QUAD LASER
Laser hair removal prevents regrowth by permanently damaging and eradicating targeted hair follicles. The light energy
emitted by the laser is absorbed by the melanin in the hair.This process, known as photothermolysis, targets the hair roots
beneath the epidermis at specific phases of their growth cycles, damaging the bulb and preventing regrowth.
There are four phases of hair growth: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen, and Exogen. To prevent regrowth, the hair follicle must be targeted during the Anagen phase, the only phase of the hair’s development cycle during which it is connected to the bulb. Individual strands will likely be in various stages of the hair growth cycle at any given time. To ensure that all follicles are targeted at the optimal time, a course of treatments is required and we recommend 6 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart (depending on the area).

Diode (808nm)
This is a widely used wavelength and is well-suited for darker skin tones, including tanned skin, because of its low absorption rate for melanin and moderate tissue depth. It is most effective on the arms, legs, and back.
Near-Infrared (940nm)
At this wavelength, haemoglobin is exploited at the base of the hair follicle that contains the blood supply and essential nutrients for hair formation. This prevents further development and results in the necrosis and loss of hair.
YAG (1064nm)
The YAG wavelength is excellent for darker skin types and delivers the deepest hair follicle penetration, treating deeply ingrained coarse hair such as the scalp, bikini area, and underarms. It results in more effective hair removal and enhanced outcomes since it avoids the skin’s natural pigmentation.

Post-Treatment Advice
▪ Do not over-expose skin to UV for at least 2 weeks
▪ Do not shave for 48 – 72 hours after treatment
▪ Do not depilate between Laser treatments (with waxing, plucking, threading or creams)
▪ Do not use bleaching creams or perfumed products for 24 – 48 hrs
▪ Do not pick or scratch the treated area
▪ Avoid rough handling of the area treated
▪ Leave any skin responses alone; these are temporary and will subside
▪ Avoid very hot baths / showers / steam baths / sauna for 48 - 72 hours
▪ Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water for 1 week
▪ Avoid exfoliating or peels for 1 week
▪ Avoid rough sports for 24 – 48 hours
▪ Avoid wearing tight clothing, jeans, trousers, tight underwear etc.
▪ Keep the area clean and dry
▪ Hydrate the body by drinking plenty of water and using sunblock (min SPF 30+). Consider using protective cotton gloves for driving, a hat to protect facial areas and pants to protect legs from exposure to the sun
▪ Contact the clinic if discomfort or redness continues for over 24 hours, or for any other concerns.
